GRAND FINALE OF SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS

Father Muller College of Nursing celebrated, the Grand Finale of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations on 1st November 2012, the day which coincided, with the 102nd Death Anniversary of the founder, Fr. Augustus Muller.
The day’s programme began with the solemn Eucharistic celebration at St. Joseph chapel. Main celebrants, Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore and Con-celebrant was Most Rev. Dr Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore.
The Official programme started at 10.00am, with a procession from Father Muller College of Nursing building, leading the dignitaries to the venue (Academy hall) by the famous FMCON band and the flag bearer, Ms. Pallavi. The programme began with an invocation song. The dignitaries on the dais were, the President of the function - Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore , Chief Guest - Most Rev. Dr Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore, Guest of Honour- Rev. Sr (Prof) Gilbert F.C.C ,President of Trained Nurses Association of India, Rev.Fr Patrick Rodrigues (Director, FMCI) ,Rev.Fr Dennis D’sa (Administrator, FMMC, FMCON and FMSON), Rev.Sr Winnifred D’Souza (Principal, FMCON) , Ms. Darryl Aranha (Organization Secretary).

Rev.Fr.Patrick Rodrigues (Director, FMCI) welcomed the gathering and Organising Secretary- Ms.Darryl Aranha presented the report of the activities undertaken during the Silver Jubilee year.
Former Directors and Administrators were honoured by Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore.
Rev.Fr Peter S. Noronha, the founder Director expressed his sentiments on behalf of all the former directors and administrators.
Former Principals of the College were felicitated by Most Rev. Dr Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore. Rev.Sr Loredana Korah, former Principal of Father Muller College of Nursing, expressed her sentiments on behalf of all former principals.
The Alumnae/ Alumni achievers were felicitated by Rev.Sr (Prof) Gilbert F.C.C (President of TNAI).
The Silver Jubilee Souvenir was unveiled by Most Rev.Dr Bernard Moras (Archbishop of Bangalore).The Staff editor of the Souvenir, Mrs.Irene Alvares (H.O.D, Dept. Of Community Health Nursing) and Ms.Lismi (IV year BSc (N) )- the student editor presented the Souvenir to the dignitaries.
In his message, Most Rev. Dr Bernard Moras (Archbishop of Bangalore) quoted a news article from a daily newspaper. He questioned, “Whether doctors and nurses really believe in life after death?” He added that everyone desires to lead a happy and healthy life and how important it should be for health personnels, to allow their patients to have decent death. He concluded saying “Without charity, there is no prosperity”.
Rev. Sr (Prof) Gilbert F.C.C, Guest of Honour inspired the gathering through the message.
Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza (Bishop of Mangalore) in his Presidential address cited the quote of Neil Armstrong, “ To me a small step, but for the world it’s a big step ”. Further he said that Father Muller College of Nursing is shining not only in the state but also in the country as well. He also motivated the professionals to take up the three important objectives - vocation, profession and mission.
‘EL-Vistazo’ - A Glimpse through Aglow 2011-12, a visual presentation of the 25 events organised as a part of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations was screened and it was followed by the Official closure of Silver Jubilee year by the President of the function, Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza (Bishop of Mangalore).
Rev.Sr Winnifred D’Souza , (Principal FMCON) delivered the vote of thanks.
One hour scintillating cultural programme by the Father Muller College of Nursing students were followed by a luscious lunch for all present at the function.




























































































































































Staff Development Programme

Alumnae association FMCON along with department of nursing education and first year post graduates organized a staff development workshop: “Team Building” on 24th march 2012 from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm in the Decennial Memorial Hall, FMCI as a part of Silver Jubilee Celebrations. Rev. Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Director FMCI, Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa, Administrator FMCON, Mrs. Victoria D’Almeida, President, Alumni Association FMCON, Mrs. Leena K C, Secretary Alumni Association FMCON were present for the program.
The resource persons were Dr.Shikaripur Krishnamurthy, Professor and Master Facilitator in HRD Abhiyaanan, Karangiapady, Mangalore and Sri. P.S Shastry, State Resource Person, Sarva Shiskshana Abhiyana, Gov. of Karnataka.
The sessions were very resourceful and all the teaching staff of FMCON and FMSON attended the workshop.











Inauguration and blessing of Father Muller College of Nursing New Building
 

     Father Muller College of Nursing new building was inaugurated by Dr. Sriprakash K S, Vice-Chancellor, RGUHS, Bangalore on 13-03-2012 at 10.00 am. Inaugural ceremony was followed by the blessing of the building by Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’souza, Bishop, Mangalore Diocese and President FMCI. There was a short prayer service after the blessing of the building.

Rev. Fr. Patrick Rodriques, Director, FMCI, Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa, Administrator FMCON, Rev Fr. Richard Coelho, Administrator , FMMCH , Rev, Sr Winnifred D’souza, Principal, FMCON, Dr. JP Alva Dean FMMC and all the managing and advisory committee members of FMCI were present on the occasion. All the teaching faculty, non teaching staff and students of FMCON also were present for the event.





     






































































































































































Muller Health Expo 2012


Father Muller College of Nursing has organized a health exhibition, “Muller health expo-2012” on January19th and 20th of 2012, as part of its silver jubilee celebrations at Father Muller medical college hospital campus, Mangalore.     Dr. Harish Kumar, Commissioner Mangalore City Corporation was the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony held on 19th January. Rev.Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Director, FMCI presided over the function.  Fr. Denis D’Sa, Administrator, FMCON, Sr. Winnifred D’Souza, principal, FMCON and Mrs. Vasantha G, Convener were the other dignitaries present on the dais. 37 colleges from Dakshina Kannada district took part in the programme and the event attracted a huge crowd over these two days, from various schools, colleges, public and media. The expo served the visitors with lots of health related issues and pieces of information. Different traditional and modern teaching strategies and audio visual media were incorporated in the expo to make it more meaningful for the participants.

International Nursing Conference INCON 2011


The most awaited and well planned international nursing conference on the theme "Translational Research- Nurses Making a Difference" was organized on 2nd and 3rd of November 2011 in the FMMC Decennial Memorial hall. The conference was first ever international conference organized by FMCON as part of silver jubilee celebrations.  Padma Bhushan Dr B.M.Hegde, Former Vice Chancellor, Manipal University was the Chief Guest.  Dr K. Reddamma, Nodal Officer, Ph.D. Consortium, NIMHANS, Bengaluru, Dr Anice George, Dean, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal and Prof. Favord Jerome, RN,CNS, University  of  Applied  Sciences,  Switzerland  were  the  Guests of Honor. Rev.Father Patrick Rodrigues, Director, FMCI presided over the function.The conference threw light on translational research and its various dimensions. International delegates from the field of nursing, Prof. Jerome from Switzerland and Dr. Grace from Abudabi have shared their vast experience in the field of nursing education. practice and research along with other national eminent leaders in the field. Scientific sessions included paper presentations of many young nurse researchers on emerging issues and trends. The delegates were from different states of India and abroad. We thank our administrator Rev. Fr Denis D'Sa for the constant and untiring support for the grand success of the historical event.




 Staff Development Programme


Department of psychiatric Nursing has organized a staff development workshop on 23 July 2011 from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm  in the Decennial Memorial Audio Visual Hall, FMCI, as a part of Silver Jubilee Celebrations. The resource persons were Mr Joe Gonsalves on Conflict Management, Dr. M.S Baliga, Research Coordinator, FMMC, on Research in Nursing, and Prof. Anila, Principal, CLHRD- Mangalore, on Leadership in Nursing. The sessions were very resourceful and attended by all the teaching staff of FMCON and FMSON.


 Inauguration of  Website for Department of Psychiatric Nursing

The department website www.psychiatricnursingfmcon.yolasite.com has been inaugurated on 26th May 2011 by Prof. Chanu Bhattacharya, Head of the Department. She expressed her concern and best wishes as this is an achievement of the department to be the pioneer, having an own website as a department of a college of nursing in India itself.  Student Nurses' Council Day Celebration 2011
As a part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations, Father Muller College and School of Nursing organized “The Student Nurse’s Council Day” on 11th May 2011 at 2 pm in the Academy Hall. A panel discussion on the theme “Closing the gap: Increasing Access and Equity” was organized.
                  The formal function of the student nurse’s council day began at 3pm. Prof.T. U. Annamma, Director, Canossa College of Nursing, Kannur, Kerala, (Former Principal, FMCON) was the Chief Guest. Rev. Fr Denis D’Sa, Administrator, FMCON and FMSON presided over the function. Rev Sr Jacintha D’Souza Principal FMCON welcomed the gathering. The annual report of student nurses’ council was read by the respective secretaries of SNC (FMCON and FMSON).
                  The much awaited college magazine Muller Spring 2010-11 was released by the chief guest, followed by an inspiring message. The chief editor of the magazine was Mrs. Victoria D’Almeida Vice-principal FMCON. The college of nursing documentary was screened and Mrs Binsha Dennis, Lecturer, FMCON delivered the vote of thanks.

Alumnae Meet held and Silver Jubilee T-Shirt released

The Annual  Alumnae meet of the FMCON was held on 02.04.11 at 2.00 pm in the Academy hall. Rev. Sr Loredana Korah, Principal, St. Anne's College of Nursing, Mulki, D.K was the Chief Guest. Sr Loredana is the Ex-Principal of FMCON. who shared her experience here and instilled the Alumnae with a spirit of feelings for the 'Alma Mater'. Dr. Suphala S. Kotiyan conducted a talk on 'Stress Management'.


A commemorative T-Shirt of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations was released on this occasion, by  Rev. Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Director, FMCI, Rev. Fr Denis D'Sa, Adminisrator FMCON and Rev. Sr Jacintha D'Souza, Principal, FMCON.





















Inauguration of Silver Jubilee Celebrations

The much awaited event has been flagged off!
Dr Ramanand Shetty, the Hon'ble Vice Chanceller of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru has inaugurated the Silver Jubilee Celebrations on 13th March 2011, on the auspicious occasion of the Institution Day cum Graduation Ceremony, by unveiling the silver Jubilee logo 'Aglow 11/12'. Dr Veerappa Moily, Hon'ble Minister of Law and Justice, Govt. of India was the Chief Guest.

















Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza the Bishop of Mangalore and Chairman of  Father Muller Charitable Institutions released the video CD of documentary on Father Muller College of Nursing. A  Brochure describing the detailed programme schedule of the Silver Jubilee also was released, followed by screening of the documentary.




Laying of Foundation Stone for New Building of College of Nursing

Foundation stone of new building of  Father Muller College of Nursing was blessed and laid by Most Rev. Aloysius Paul D'Souza, Bishop of Mangalore and the Chairman of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, at 9.15 am, 1st November 2010, on the occasion of 100th Death Centenary Celebrations of Rev. Fr Augustus Muller S.J, the founder of FMCI.
Sri: Seemanth Kumar Singh. I.P.S, the Commissioner of the Mangalore Police Commissionerate was the Chief Guest. The members of governing body of FMCI, Administrator, Principal, Vice Principal, staff and students of FMCON and FMSON were gathered for the auspicious occasion.
The modern new building will be a gift for College of Nursing for its 25th Birthday.
